Dear Komarek Families,
Welcome to "Literacy with Mrs. B!" I would like to take this opportunity to express how thrilled and honored I am to work as the Reading Specialist/Literacy Coach at Komarek School, and to introduce myself. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in Psychology from the University of Illinois, where I graduated with high honors in May 2007. I graduated with a Master of Education in Reading and Literacy from Benedictine University in December 2011. In addition, I completed the required courses for endorsements in Language Arts and Social Studies at the middle school level at Roosevelt University, as well as an endorsement in English as a Second Language from Benedictine University.
Within the first eight years in my career of education, I was able to gain a variety of valuable experiences, which include teaching 3rd grade at Maplebrook Elementary School in Naperville Community Unit School District 203 and Hollywood Elementary School in Riverside District 96, as well as serving on English Language Arts Curriculum Teams, and District Leadership Teams. I am excited to work collaboratively with the staff, provide leadership and support in literacy professional development, and guide effective literacy instruction for individuals and groups of students.
Words cannot express what a joyous feeling it is to be working in such a fabulous school and community. I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm with the students and staff throughout the years. Please feel free to contact me at any time throughout the school year. Thank you for your continual support!
