Welcome to 2J!
I am one third of the awesome 2nd grade team! This is my first year as a homeroom teacher but my 3rd year teaching at Komarek! In previous years I have taught 1st grade and KG reading and math. I am so excited to have my own homeroom this year!
I graduated from Illinois State University in 2013 with Magna Cum Laude honors. I am forever grateful for my education at ISU in preparing me to teach and mold students into confident and independent learners! Go Redbirds!
On a more personal note, I grew up overseas for 18 years thanks to my parents' job in the State Department. I lived in Saudi Arabia, England, India, Singapore, Slovakia, and Japan. I LOVE incorporating my life experiences into the classroom!
The military is very close to my heart and I spend my free time volunteering at O'hare Airport every other Wednesday assisting with preparing Navy Recruits. I am always looking for ways to support our brave men and women. We are "home of the free, because of the brave."
I am also thrilled to announce over the summer I will go from Miss Johnson to Mrs. Day as I will be getting married on June 18th!
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns at anytime! You can reach me at 708-447-8030 x 111 or firstname.lastname@example.org!
