Dear Komarek Families,
We hope that you and your family are staying safe and healthy, and of course, continuing to learn daily. Today, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker announced that remote learning in Illinois will be extended through April 30, 2020 in order to slow down the spread of COVID-19. Throughout this pandemic, we will remain committed to the following priorities:
Feeding and caring for the extended safety, health, and welfare of students, families, non-student children, staff, and community at large.
Communicating consistently with students and families.
Providing for the continuity of learning for our students.
As you know, today marked the beginning of our remote learning days. These days will be similar to the eLearning days with just some minor adjustments. Currently, we are in week 2 of our choice boards, as spring break does not count as a week of closing. The administration is working with staff to continue creating and planning lessons which will include delivery of new content via video as well as various educational platforms.
In order for all of our students to access the lessons teachers create, we are surveying kindergarten through fourth grade families to see which students would need a device. Recently, a form was sent electronically to parents of third and fourth grade students. If your child is in grades kindergarten through second, please complete the form by clicking here. The form must be completed by Friday, April 2nd. Since we do not own enough devices for all students, it is critical that we are able to provide a device for children who otherwise are unable to engage in video/online learning. Our ability to offer this device program will depend on the data collected via this form.
In addition to instructional delivery, the daily times have been changed. For more information, please see the communication sent by Dr. Ganan on March 29th.
As for the grade levels that are not one-to-one and have received a packet, we are arranging a drop-off and pick-up for new and completed materials. Please know that you can always scan the work directly to the teacher. New packets will also be available online. Stay tuned for more information.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to us.
